Game Modes

Riddle of the Beast is a Horror themed board game that puts players in control of a group of unique Hunters as they challenge various missions filled with dangerous events and nightmarish foes.

Investigation Mode

  • Play against the Game: Play cooperatively with up to 4 players as you challenge the game itself

  • Solve the Mystery: Pick from 18 unique Investigations. Each with their own story and available settings.

  • Build your Map: Draw from Location Cards tied to 6 different setting types to build your map as you play.

  • Find the Clues: Complete random Event Cards to try and find Clues to solve the Investigation.

  • Survive the Darkness: Battle against a deadly collection of enemies ranging from Maniacs and Sadists to Ghouls, Chupacabras and much worse! Each with multiple unique Attacks and Abilities

  • Expand your Arsenal: Grow your Hunters Arsenals by unlocking new ranks and entirely new Arsenal sets.

  • Set the Theme: Add new challenges to the gameplay by picking a Theme card. Pick a Theme to unlock unique Cameo Hunters!

    • Cassandra the Esper with a versatile set of supernatural abilities

    • Nysa the Witch can use the Clash Cards to twist fate in her favor. Place the cards into occult Arcanas for powerful abilities and summons.

Skirmish Mode

  • Player vs Player: Fight your friends! Use Hunters or any enemies in the Horror Journal in engaging PVP combat.

  • Character Points: Each unit, whether friend or foe is assigned a CP value to dictate their power level.

  • Balanced Battles: Set the CP limit and pick your teams. Then fight for victory!

  • Hunts: Pick a contract from various ranks of difficulty and bring this enemy down. Each Hunt has its own set story and target with increased stats and traits.

  • Find the Killer: Gather Clues to find a variety of Killers with random traits and passives.

  • Stop the Assassins: The House of Murder is contracted to kill someone you know. Assassinate the Assassins before they Assassinate!

  • Escort Quests: Meet a variety of NPC characters with different personality types and passives and Escort them to safety. We all love Escort Quest! Befriend them and gain Favors.

  • Horde Mode: Survive waves of enemies! Use resources to bolster your defenses or attempt daring moves to change the tide of battle

  • Find the Cure: Gather samples from friends and foes alike to find a cure for a variety of pandemics. Stop the spread before the Government uses it to enslave us all!
